Celtic lost the first match of their Australian tour 1-0 after gifting Central Coast Mariners a late goal after a poor clearance from substitute Joe Ledley allowed Josh Hearfield to fire home in the 86th minute.

The Hoops came closest in injury-time when Gary Hooper saw a shot cleared off the line before a penalty claim was denied.

Neil Lennon handed Adam Matthews and Kelvin Wilson their first taste of action for the club as his team failed to find a cutting edge despite superior possession.

Former Cardiff full-back Matthews put in an accomplished display in the first half and unleashed a powerful long throw on several occasions, while Wilson made some decent interventions.

Lennon left out Thomas Rogne and Charlie Mulgrew as a precaution after they reported stiff muscles, while Kris Commons remained on the bench for the same reason.

Fracking again in New York

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation is set to release a massive report proposing recommendations for allowing hydraulic fracturing and lifting the moratorium on the practice. DEC released late yesterday details on the forthcoming report. In a signficant change, the practice, widely known as hydrofracking, will be banned in the watersheds that serve as water supply for New York City and Syracuse. It would also be banned on public lands and on lands overlying primary aquifers, but allowed on private lands. A public comment period will follow the release of the report today, and DEC will eventually write regulations based on the finalized recommendations.

Industry groups seemed pleased while some see the potential lifting of the moratorium as a loss for opponents of hydrofracking.
