Lewes Ladies have got off to a good start ahead of the new season, claims new Head of Development Dave Cole.
“We’re working hard on and off the field,” Cole stated, “We have set targets, and looked at how exactly we are going to achieve them.’
‘Off the field we are as organised as we have ever been and with the staff we have, I only expect us to continue to improve.”
Lewes started pre-season relatively early and Cole explains how that might benefit the squad: “We wanted to get a good solid foundation for the new season.”
“We expect the players to be in the best condition they can be, to ensure they are still going at the end of game and that they keep away from injuries.”
“We started early so we could get the Ladies fitness up as soon as possible and then build from there.”
“So far, training has been based around testing and fitness but it’s not all running and more running”. Cole explained, “We believe in doing work both with and without the ball, to address areas that are generic to all players, but also to give them a chance to work on areas which are individual to their particular needs.
“As such, a number of players have been given individual training programmes and more players will continue to receive this support in the coming weeks.”
Lewes has looked to strengthen with new recruits, “We are looking to finalise a squad who will allow us to achieve our targets,” Cole said.
“We believe the early signs are very positive and the belief is starting to grow. The main thing is that every player works hard and through careful planning, team work and determination, we should have the consistency to achieve our goals for the season.”
