Following the conclusion of the 2010-11 campaign, Lewes FC has today announced that it is seeking a new First Team Manager for next season.
Talks have been ongoing between Tim O’Shea & Neil Smith and the club’s Community Board (including Chairman, Steve Ibbitson). However, following a meeting this week both parties have concluded that the club’s next crucial phase of rebuilding in the Ryman Premier would best be served by a new managerial team.
Charlie Dobres, a Board Trustee/Director explained: “Lewes FC is set on the path to establishing itself as a self-sustaining, community oriented club.
“The Community Board remains absolutely focused on taking the right steps to achieve this.”
“And next season will see the club forging even closer ties with Lewes and the wider Sussex area. The watchwords are ‘responsible ambition.’”
Patrick Marber, a Board trustee/Director went on to thank Tim and Neil: “I have no regrets about us hiring Tim & Neil back in October. They were the right men at the right time.”
“Following Ibbo was going to be a hard task for anyone coming in. Tosh and Smudge were brave enough to take it on. They’ve worked extremely hard for this club with integrity and passion.”
“Anyone who has worked with them here can attest to their professionalism, enthusiasm and dignity in what has been a very tough season.”
“I hugely admire Tim and Neil and suspect they will be managing at a much higher level in the years to come. I’m glad we are parting on good terms.”
Steve Ibbitson added: “Tim and Neil took over the Club at a difficult time and have worked tirelessly on our behalf. I’m very grateful for their effort and professionalism and know that they are going have success in the future.
“We now have to continue our rebuilding of a wonderful old Club and ensure that we move on to a new and successful period to take the Club back where we all want it to be.”
The club is now inviting applications for the post of First Team Manager.
Closing date for applications is Monday 16th May. The position may be offered on a full or part-time basis.
