Rotherham have confirmed Scunthorpe put in a bid for star striker Adam Le Fondre, but the offer was ‘nowhere near our valuation’.
As reported by skysports.com on Thursday, the Millers have turned down a bid for the striker, who has netted more than 50 goals in the last two seasons.
It has now emerged Scunthorpe were the potential suitors, but the price quoted was too much for the player, who has just a year left on his contract.
Rotherham chairman Tony Stewart told the Scunthorpe Telegraph: “Scunthorpe did come in with an offer but it was nowhere near our valuation.
“They said they would come back to us, but we have heard nothing yet.

“Le Fondre is a special player who is part of our plans moving forward.”
Scunthorpe boss Alan Knill also confirmed his interest in the 24-year-old.
He said: “Yes, Adam Le Fondre is a player that I have been interested in this summer.
“We did have some preliminary talks with Rotherham, but the price they quoted was too much.
“I can understand it from their point of view because they do not want to lose a player who has scored so many goals.”
