Dani Pedrosa is set get his Moto GP campaign back on track at this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix.
Repsol Honda confirmed on Tuesday that the Spaniard would return at the Mugello circuit in Tuscany after recovering from the broken collarbone he suffered in the French Grand Prix.
Pedrosa has missed the last three races in Catalunya, Britain and Holland following his he crash with Marco Simoncelli.
His comeback was delayed when it emerged that he needed a second operation to fix a dislodged fragment of bone.
The 25-year-old was in the race for to win the championship after a strong start to the season but injury has effectively cost him the title.
His team-mate Casey Stoner has taken two wins and a second place during his absence and he now lies 75 points adrift of the Australian in sixth place.
Despite his title hopes being over however, Pedrosa is still looking forward to getting back to racing.
“After missing three races, I’m happy to be back in Mugello,” he said. “During this period I’ve been very focused on my recovery and after the second operation I have improved a lot.
